The Top 10 Boudoir Poses… Firstly, let's make one thing clear. We don't do traditional poses. We know, everyone is different, with different body shapes and range of movement. Every client has a different comfort level as well with regard to how much of their body they want to show off. Every Madison Bou Experience is customised around the individual. We know that what works for one client may well be totally wrong for another. So, with that in mind, here are the 10 most popular and most often used boudoir poses on a Madison Bou Experience that flatter a large range of our clients and it's fair to say that some (though not all) of these will work well with you. These are the poses that are most flattering to the widest variety of women, offer the most variety from a single pose and are the easiest for 'non-models' to perform… 1 – THE HEADSHOT Hardly traditional boudoir but a great way to ease you in gently. A few minutes doing head and shoulders shots in beautiful light and you'll gain much needed confidence in front of the camera.
Plus of course, you'll see just how beautiful your hair and make-up is – Bonus! 2 – THE SIGNIFICANT OTHER'S WHITE SHIRT Every man loves to see you in his white shirt. Every woman looks sexy in a man's white shirt. Whether you're in a relationship or not, we'll always suggest you bring something nicely ironed to wear for a super clean and bright look. Plus, it's another great way to ease you in to boudoir gently. With a bra showing underneath or braless to show off more cleavage, you'll love these pictures since they often capture your fun and expressive side perfectly. 3 – LAYING BACK ON THE BED Bedshots are the mainstay of Boudoir Photography and we capture as many different looks as possible using a variety of different lighting and simple body posing. Lying back on the bed is always a winner. We love decorating the scene with accessories such as fabrics and flowers and we make sure your arms and legs are in perfect positions to create stylish and artistic images ideal when displayed as wall art… Sexy, Sultry and Seductive.
1. Very simple portrait pose to start with. Have the model look over her shoulder. Note how unusual and interesting a portrait might look, if shot simply from a different angle. 2. In portrait photography, hands are usually not visible or at least not dominant. However, you might get creative by asking the model to play around with her hands trying different positions around her head or face. Keep in mind, though: No flat palms, and the hands should only show their sides! 3. You might be familiar with composition rules like the rule of thirds. In a similar way, pleasing effects can be created by using diagonals. Also remember that you don't need to always hold your camera on a perfectly even level. Don't be afraid to tilt it, you might achieve some interesting and unusual perspectives. 4. A really nice and lovely pose with a model sitting. The knees have to touch each other. Shoot slightly from above. 5. Another open and inviting pose with the model lying on the ground. Get down and take your shot nearly from the ground level.

Also in the series check out our posing guides for posing children, posing couples, posing groups and posing weddings. Sample Poses to Get You Started with Photographing Women If you ever run out of ideas, get stuck in creativity or simply need some guidance when shooting female subjects, you may use following posing samples as a "posing cheat sheet". Many pro photographers use such a technique when preparing for and during the photo shoot. The poses in this article are selected as an initial reference. I would advise you to look at the poses together with your subject, especially if she's inexperienced. During a photo shoot, don't hesitate to discuss with the subject which pose is or isn't working in any particular situation. It's usually very productive and you both will feel more confident in what you are doing. OK, let's start, one by one.
Another Madison Bou signature shot. 6 – USING NATURAL BACKLIGHT We love the romantic feel of backlight. It's fattering and slimming at the same time and it adds softness and glow to skin. What could be more perfect? 7 – THE KYLIE POSE Named after one of Kylie Minogue's iconic pictures, this is one of our most requested images to recreate but we'll not do this with everyone. Why? Because, although it looks super dramatic, it also hurts and many clients simply can't do this. It's a pose that stretches your body and highlights your curves. Plus, everyone's legs look amazing in this pose. Stunning! One for the brave. 8 – THE IMPLIED NUDE whether we do this or not is entirely up to you and the motivation for booking the shoot in the first place. Gok Wan would certainly tell you to 'just do it'. If you want the images as a gift for your significant other then it's pretty much an essential. Remember that we have many years of experience photographing women who look like they're naked but are actually showing nothing off.
