I bought the 9th instead. It is all the same book. With only minor changes. And some of the questions are similar or exactly the same. BUT... if you need a book that you can actually read and learn from, this is not that book. The concepts are not organized or presented in a coherent and logical manner. Trust me there are better differential books out there. Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2015 Verified Purchase Save yourself a few hundred bucks and buy the 9th edition used for $15. I have seen the 10th edition and the material is 97% the same - they didn't even change the numbers in the problems. Now, the book "feels" closer to a science book than a math book. That is, definitions and equations are embedded in blocks of text as opposed to being neatly presented in a table. The techniques are taught by example with very little explanation.
Mutations are covered well, but not as well as (say) the DNA repair mechanism. Still, a very accessible textbook that written well enough to be read cover to.. encyclopedic, rather than emphasis on knowledge retention techniques like repeating fundamentals in boxes etc; obviously written by researchers; infodump; better accompanied by lecture notes; read 1/2-- did not finish read end to end for my I loved this book. It was one of the most comprehensive cell biology books that served as a great reference for the start of my biology career. Well written, and comprehensive. Its my favourite mol. Cell bio text. I don't write summaries, but this one deserves it. It goes into just as much details as you need at a given step (which given the enormous scope is incredible). Visual aids at every page. Summaries at each chapter. Descriptive headlines. A textbook ideal. As to the content itself -- a magical fairyland but real in every aspect. The complexity of the mind-boggling numbers of interactions needed for even a single cell to not die a couple hundred times a second, let alone survive many stressful times a..

Like her 1934 Mary Westmacott novel Unfinished Portrait, it starts with a youngish woman who has married, had a daughter and whose husband has replaced her with someone else. In both books, a young man displays remarkable perceptiveness in spotting her intention to end her life and defies convention to save her, not only in tackling a stranger on intimate matters but in spending time in the woman's hotel bedroom to talk her out of suicide. In this story he talks her into espionage instead. Literary significance and reception The Times Literary Supplement in its review, written by Philip John Stead, of 19 November 1954, was enthusiastic when it asked, "Where do scientists go when they vanish from the ken of the Security Services? A solution to this fascinating problem is propounded in Destination Unknown. While it must be admitted that the secret, when disclosed, smacks rather of The Thousand and One Nights than of modern international rivalry for scientific talents, it may surely be excused on the ground that it provides Mrs. Christie with a story-tellers holiday from the rigours of detective fiction.
